IHOFMANN steered the media dialogue for Barco during MEDICA 2018

During MEDICA 2018 (November 12-15) – the leading international trade fair for the medical sector in Düsseldorf, Germany – the Belgian visualization technology expert Barco invited leading healthcare publishers from the DACH region to the booth. PR agency IHOFMANN had invited publishers and media representatives on behalf of Barco for an expert talk with the Barco healthcare team during the first two days.

The new Nexxis generation– AV-over-IP-solution is 50 % more energy-efficient

Major focus was on the new Nexxis™ generation, a video integration solution that builds on the IP network to securely share uncompressed, high-resolution video and audio, from a variety of medical systems, in and between operating rooms. “The new Nexxis hardware has been designed to further promote flexibility, compatibility, and serviceability of the platform,” says Johan Stockman, barco’s VP surgical imaging. “Careful consideration went into the new design. We wanted to create a display that combines surgical aesthetics with surgical precision. This new paradigm of display design shows how fine form can meet function in the operating room”.

The new Nexxis hardware is 50% more energy-efficient. The environmental impact is smaller, thanks to the compact format, lowered heat dissipation and lower power consumption. In addition, the new highly compact encoders are a perfect fit for mobile applications. Moving trolleys through the operating room requires staff to turn off and turn on the power of the devices on the trolley. The new encoders help ensure a faster start-up.

Fabulous 4 K in the OR

Just in time for MEDICA Barco launched the new 27’’ screen. The MDSC-8427 display has a broad color gammut and offers advanced color calibration algorithms. The dual user interface – one at the front and one at the back – makes in easy to operate the display.

A recent white paper from Bruno Debonnet, product manager surgical imaging, Barco, describes the various video quality specs to consider when choosing the best product for the respective needs. “Today a modern OR is often installed with a medical video integration system, connecting all components in the OR, including the video sources and displays. Again there are multiple manufacturers producing different types of integrated solutions which might look similar at first glance, but when looking at the quality specs there will be important differences”, says Bruno Debonnet.
